It's hard to pick a favorite movie, but I find I watch "Cool Hand Luke" quite a bit. The Hustler sticks pretty close to the movie version; Color of Money uses the title and goes off on its own. Both novels are well regarded but not read much.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18021800168840547196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1537120063567683385.post-31136259014895539992008-09-27T15:13:00.000-04:002008-09-27T15:13:00.000-04:00August,The most famous line in Cool Hand Luke: "Wh...August,<BR/>The most famous line in Cool Hand Luke: "What we have here is a faliure to communicate..." is not in the novel. In fact, Donn Pierce, who spent a year or so on a Florida chain gang, didn't want the line (the creation of his co-screenwriter)in the film because he said in his experience no officer in the Florida penal system was smart enough to have said it.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18021800168840547196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1537120063567683385.post-82803540512705797732008-09-27T13:06:00.000-04:002008-09-27T13:06:00.000-04:00If I were picking heroes, he'd be on my list.If I were picking heroes, he'd be on my list.pattinase (abbott)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02916037185235335846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1537120063567683385.post-11728143048935751122008-09-27T12:34:00.000-04:002008-09-27T12:34:00.000-04:00John: A great film and I have the paperback editio...John: A great film and I have the paperback edition by Donn Pearce. The novel explains Luke's background in greater detail than the film, and sets the action in central Florida rather than an ambiguous South.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18021800168840547196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1537120063567683385.post-46516807301753168902008-09-27T11:33:00.000-04:002008-09-27T11:33:00.000-04:00Sad.
